In Search of a Home: A Family’s Struggle Amidst Bihar’s Floods
In Harjora Ghat village, Bihar, a large family lost their home to the raging floods of the Kosi River. Stranded and without resources, they took shelter in a makeshift bamboo hut, battling hunger and illness with their limited means. Every rupee they earned went toward basic food and medicines, often falling short of fulfilling their daily needs.
Goonj’s Intervention: Relief & Resilience
During a flood impact survey, Goonj’s team reached out with Rahat kit to the family. This immediate intervention gave them temporary stability, ensuring they had food and immediate necessities in their time of crisis.
Beyond just relief, Goonj is actively working with flood-affected communities in Bihar to rebuild infrastructure, restore livelihoods, and foster long-term resilience. While the immediate crisis is overwhelming, sustained efforts are crucial to assist families regain their dignity and security.
