Just few months back Kerala, Karnataka, Assam and Nagaland were completely swamped by unprecedented floods wreaking havoc on a large scale. Even before we could make sense of the massive floods Odisha has been devastated by Cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ affecting parts of Andhra Pradesh as well..
There was also massive damage to crops while more than 3 lakh people were evacuated.
Goonj team in Odisha immediately intervened to assess, plan and strategize relief efforts for the disaster affected communities in the region.
Realities from the field..
Goonj has been working in Odisha for many years now. For Cyclone Titli relief work we are working closely with our local partner organisations like Gram Vikas, Adhikar, KZSVS, AGVP, GGS, Shanti Maitree, Basumata, ISHWRD & PSS in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Baleswar, Kendrapada, Puri.
Work in progress:
Reached out to 3767 affected families in 67 villages of Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha and Kalahandi Districts under Goonj’s Rahat initiative.
Initiated 85 development activities for restoring damaged surroundings.
Held Menstrual hygiene sessions for women & adolescent girls in various villages.
Working with many grass root organisations on the ground.
