Press Release

Greetings from Goonj.  Every year on 28th May the world celebrates Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH DAY), underlining Menstruation as a basic but neglected biological process for a woman.

We believe that ‘Menstruation is a human issue, not just a Women’s issue’ that’s why to mainstream it we invite you to Menstruation Dialogue; Missing Voices, Missed Out Issues

on 21st May at IIMC Auditorium, New Delhi.

This One day Dialogue will

  1. Bring together organizations, activists and other stakeholders, working with women largely left out of the present menstrual hygiene narrative, also highlighting menstrual challenges missed out in the present menstruation narrative.
  2. Panel Discussion on Neglected Women and aspects of menstruation; with eminent voices and activists around women’s issues. (names will be shared shortly)
  3. Recognition to organizations taking up Best Practices around Triple A’s (Access, Awareness, Affordability) of menstruation.
  4. Photography exhibition highlighting Myths, Realities, Evidence and Learnings around menstruation, emerging from our one decade ongoing work across India, on this issue .

Goonj (www.goonj.org) has been working on menstruation for more than a decade now among women constituting an invisible and un-served majority across India, still struggling for basics. These women; be it tribals, differently abled, women workers in unorganized sector, women collaborating in SHGS and Micro Finance  face many menstrual challenges around access, awareness, affordability, infrastructure, dignity, taboos that still haven’t found enough space and attention in the larger menstruation narrative.

We believe this dialogue will help bring these neglected aspects of menstruation into the spotlight.

Please share the enclosed invite creative among your own network of women and women focused organizations.  For more details about Goonj and this event please refer – www.goonj.org
