Some issues affect us all, irrespective of whether you are a man or a woman. Menstruation is such an issue.. where we all must get involved to solve the issue. If you think about it.. it’s not really a women’s issue but a human issue.. A mother, a daughter, a wife, a girl friend.. We or someone we know has every month dealt with menstruation.. with a lot of taboos, do’s and don’ts, indignity, humiliation and health risks.
Goonj started talking about this issue more than a decade ago and started working on menstrual hygiene for women who struggle the most in far flung villages of India. Today, despite a mainstream movie and many different market products a vast majority of women still struggle with a strong culture of shame and silence and for a piece of cloth for this basic need.
That’s why its time to get involved and ‘Raise Your Hand’ (RYH) to establish menstruation as a normal.
