Volunteers are the backbone for this campaign, where they usually take up the plunge to activate their network and open up opportunities for more people to contribute..
2020 has witnessed never-seen-before developments in the world around us and has pushed us all to recognize a ‘new normal’. While many of us have adjusted and have been lucky to stay safe, many have suffered due to the unprecedented changes thrown our way while constantly tackling the perennial natural disasters. Goonj has been there standing with the affected, rooted firmly in its philosophy of dignity. However, we need you too along the way.
Given our huge scale of work in 26 states/UTs across India during Covid, along with the cyclones and floods, the need for monetary and material resources have increased manifolds.
Urgently required material: Clothes, woolens, blankets, dry ration, school material, toys, utensils, usable electronic devices (mobiles, laptops, computers)
We urge you to gear up and tap the resources around you and channelize them to us.
Below are a few ways to organise collection drives. Please follow the national health guidelines. Along with it, please refer to the Guidelines by Goonj – in Hindi in English. Understanding all the guidelines beforehand is important to avoid any inconvenience later.
῀ Public Collection Drives: Ensure a secured and covered space as a venue for material collection, finalize dates, get posters from us to spread the word, continue the collection drive for a week atleast.
῀ One-day Collection Camp: Allot a day where a truck can be parked inside/in front of your society gate for a few hours, spread the word before and get people to drop the material directly in the vehicle.
῀ Initiate ‘On Your Own’ collections: If you are based in one of the selected cities** and can collect at least 500 kg material (one Bolero load) from your friends, family, neighbours etc, Goonj will organise pick up from your society between October 10th – 30th.
Please note, pick up is not meant for individual homes.
**Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Dehradun and Rishikesh
Register here to engage with us for any of the above options.
Please check this space for Collection camps/drives near your location – these will be uploaded in the last week of September, 2020. Our offices are open for collection.
Along with material, money matters.. Below are few fundraising options, if any of these ideas make sense to you, do write to us at [email protected]
῀ Organize fundraising activities by identifying your strengths and sharing it with the larger community online (e.g. organize photography sessions, cooking classes, mental health sessions etc.).
῀ Promote Goonj’s fundraising platforms and raise funds.
῀ Goonj ki Gullak is an innovative idea for bringing change. Refer https://goonj.org/goonj-ki-gullak/ for more details

Join us as an independent group of people : Over a period of time many independent groups like welfare groups, women groups, Rotary Clubs, associations, volunteer groups, formed for specific purposes, have worked with Goonj in spreading awareness and collection of material. If you are a part of any such group and wish to participation, please Register here.
Get involved as an institution : Goonj has been working with different institutes – corporates, retail chains, schools, colleges, libraries, civil societies, coaching centres, arts and cultural centres, RWAs – for various campaigns and each one has taught us different ways people contribute, according to their interest and potential.
Material Collection Drives are an easy way for people to give back during ‘Joy of Giving Week (now known as Daan Utsav). You can focus on any specific material like sarees or dry ration or share 5 urgently needed material and people give back on their choice of material or make a monetary contribution for the same. To organize collection drives, please Register here.
Apart from above, institutions can tie-up with Goonj for different aspects of ‘Dil ki Suno, Kuch Karo’ campaign
